I love Google
This was a blog I wrote back in November 2022 and for some strange reason did not publish.
Google usage and the arrival of and explosion of AI Chat GPT modules and Learning Language Modules etc have in the mean time affected challenged and reduced Google Monopoly like, built in Default installed Search Engine Position. Yet it is still anchored in many users quick search actions hence I thought it could still applicable nearly two years later.
Google's original (and still claimed) noble cause of trying to help, assist and make our lives easier has been corrupted into a tool that is now being claimed to be manipulating the thinking and opinion of the masses culturally, morally and even politically.
Even in cases where one idea, opinion or ideology is not necessarily being propagated it equally seems to be contributing to division amongst us on an individual basis, currently held convictions are being reinforced, whether right or wrong when search engine results that coincide with our opinion while hiding results on the same topic with an opposite viewpoint.
We have also seen the blatant censoring and misinformation label given to anything that even dared to question the official narrative let alone contradict it. Or when that information was allowed to be released or found in search results it immediately received a warning logo of dancing along the borderline misinformation territorial content.
Even without intention it seems to be manipulating our search results based on our cookie settings. (The official explanation being small files that websites stored on a computer to store information about your preferences 🙄) This intrusive interaction when executing search requests seems to be getting even more aggressive not only influencing the search results but also the initial imputed request. Google is constantly changing the spelling of the word I am trying to place in the search engine window because it presumptuously assumes I have spelt it incorrectly or I am using the completely wrong word. 🤬
I obviously have no idea what I am doing so let Google as my devoted, know it all, AI Guru Assistant, take over and just do that for me as well.😕
A certain segment of our global internet user population is constantly searching for new, fresh and alternative ideas and insights on existing subjects that not only agree with our existing paradigms but that also challenges them.
But I personally believe that not only Google but all of Big Tech's platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Bing etc are not really catering for that type of open minded searching mindset. It is not compatible with the existing AI algorithmic formulas implemented into their search engines programs. Which leads me to another theory that just maybe there is no one man, group or minuut group of selected elite pushing and controlling the buttons. Maybe this is the natural result of our technology with no one really being in control (or if someone, group or thing is, then they seem to be losing control)
